It Begins!: Hammonton Sprint Tri - Hammonton, NJ - May 26, 2012!

Welcome, triathlon season 2012!!  The first tri of the season was a great start with the Hammonton Sprint in Hammonton, NJ on May 26, 2012.  What a perfect way to begin the Memorial Day weekend with an event less than an hour away from home!  The distances were a 1/4 mile swim, 12 mile bike and a 3 mile run - pretty speedy compared to the long-distance training we've been doing to prepare for IMLP, but a terrific way to get back in the swing of "tri world!"
We were in the company of some great friends, with Joe & Denise from Philly Tri Club and Craig & Erica from EnMu and Team TriSports!!  Some people choose to BBQ with friends on the holiday weekend...we choose to do a tri, then BBQ with friends!
The event started out in Hammonton Lake Park with a murky, seaweedy swim.  I managed to survive a kick to the face and some swallowed water to exchange pleasantries with Erica in T1.  Then it was off on the super-fast, flaaaat bike course (I exaggerate...there was one "hill" in the form of an overpass).  Chris & I felt the need...the need for speed on the new SRAM wheels, compliments of TriSports.com!

The run was a nice little jaunt through a neighborhood where people were out watering and mowing their lawns (probably wondering what all these crazy spandex-clad people were doing out so early!).  All-in-all, it was a fun-filled, successful day!  All of us friends who raced, PLACED!
